Zebra by Noa

Zebras are very cool, colorful animals. Zebras are white with black stripes. Each zebra has its own unique pattern. People think that the stripes on a zebra confuse their predators. Zebras are 4-5 feet tall, their legs are very skinny which helps them run very fast. They can run up to 43 mph. Zebras look like horses but smaller. They have large heads and round ears and thick mane. Zebras have a black dorsal stripe down their back . Their belly is completely white. When a baby zebra is born it has reddish brown colored stripes. Over time they will turn black. That is how a zebra looks. Zebra mares have their babies when they are four yeas old. males do not breed until they are 4-6 years old. They live to be 25-30 years old.

Zebras have many different names. Their common name is zebra. Their scientific name is very cool. It is equus grevyi. Those are the names for the Grevy Zebra.

Zebras are very picky about their habitat. They usually live in grass or shrub land where there is always water. Zebras live in africa. It is very hot there. Their main resources are grass and water. They live in herds.
The zebras range is in Africa,their population is not big. Zebras live in Ethiopia, which is in Africa. They also live in Asia. There are fewer then 2,500 live in the wild and 600 in captivity. There are many zebras, but the only endangered one is the Grevy zebra. Grevy zebras are endangered and should not be poached. Zebras are poached for their pelts. Poaching is illegal. That is what the Grevy Zebra is valued for their pelts. Grevy Zebras are endangered, here are some ways to help. One way you and others can help is by spreading the awareness. Another way you and others could help is by making more wild life resorvs. those aer some ways you cold help save the poor Grevy Zebras.
