Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Gettsyburg Address – November 19, 1863

On Tuesday, November 19th, the students in Alyson Bull’s sixth grade and Bill Stewart’s fifth grade participated in a simultaneous reading of the Gettsyburg Address. Classrooms throughout the USA connected either via Skype or Google Hangouts. Our students read the address with Melanie Walters’ 5th and 6th grade students from the Concordia Lutheran School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Kindergarten Leaf People

The Leaf Man by Lois Elhert was the inspiration for the kindergarten leaf people project. Amanda King’s students found leaves in the school yard to create their own leaf person. The students then selected different characteristics for their person: name, what the leaf liked to do, what the leaf smelled liked, etc. A movie was created of the students describing their person.

Grade 4 – Reflections of Us

Students in Christine Paglia Baker’s room begin the year creating self-portraits which are now hanging in the hall outside of Grade 4. Using mirrors, the students had to look at themselves and re-create their image on paper. A hard thing for any of us to do! When the project was completed, the students were asked to reflect on the project and the process. Their thoughts and reflections have been captured in this movie.
