Fifth and Sixth graders presented their research on the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans in an informative cultural fair. Preschool through fourth grade students along with visitors, parents and staff enjoyed the interactive fair.

The day before the Thanksgiving break Leverett Elementary celebrates with a day of reading. It is a relaxed, fun-filled day with guest readers, pjs, sleeping bags, and favorite stuffed animals.
The students in Angela Regan’s second grade class welcomed parents, friends and students to their Ocean Museum. Each student studied a creature or ocean habitat and created a visual to show what they learned during the research process. Terrific job,Second Graders!

Students in Alissa Alteri Shea’s class learned about the stability of structures and the properties of materials during computer lab with Karin Gravina. Using the story of The Three Little Pigs as a starting point, the students were asked to predict whether cardboard, legos, straw, sticks, drinking straws, marshmallows and sugar cubes would be strong or weak materials for building a house. Then working in teams, they created homes for the pigs using each of the materials. Fans were used to test the stability of each house and students recorded their observations for each structure.
Students in Amanda King’s classroom read The Peace Book by Todd Parr. The students then created their own KidPix images of their definition of peace.

Students in Alissa Alteri Shea’s first grade classroom are learning about the seasons. In computer lab with Karin Gravina, the students created a picture of their favorite season using KidPix software.
Students in Tracey Supple’s Grade 3 are studying rocks and minerals. An annual project involves students creating and erupting their own volcanoes.
